Sad is not the word. Deepest sympathies to his folks.

Jan was a really decent bloke and he was incredibly knowledgeable about the subject of rock art. Whenever I found myself baffled by a carving or needing some info about an obscure site, he would generally come up with the goods. He was never too busy to respond to queries and was very well respected by the academic community, who also used his depth and breadth of knowledge as verification.

He also instigated the rock Art Meets, which have been going strong for years now, and a excellent thing they are, long may they continue. The world of prehistoric rock art is much diminished by his absence. Hopefully thee will be some way of re-creating the BRAC database in memoriam.

Big up to you Mr B, you will be missed.
