I'm reading The Atlantis Blueprint by Rand Flem-Ath (great chap) and Colin Wilson (bit of a loon) at the moment and came across the island of Bornholm. There is a section on ancient sites and how some fall into a global grid pattern based on certain measurements such as phi, the golden section etc. The island is mentioned as having a huge amount of churches all built corresponding to (or built on top of!) ancient megaliths.

Denmark (and southern Sweden) are so littered with ancient monuments so it would be easy to create whatever pattern you fancied if you were selective. In parts of Denmark we drove through (though we haven't been to Bornholm) there was virtually a dolmen or barrow in every other bloody field! The practice of building churches on top of or next to monuments is common throughout Europe- I can think of examples in Portugal, Scotland, Spain, France ... and even closer to home in Oxfordshire.
