Well it wasn't really "another era" was it?! I was around at that time after all! And not writing it up would certainly have been considered wrong at that time I'm sure - as it was for the subsequent thirty five years during which no-one made much of it.
I guess if anything's changed in the past 45 years it's public accountability (or the appearance of it) - sites like this and HA and the Freedom of Information Act. You couldn't dig up Stonehenge and produce no details nowadays without people creating a fuss.
