Completely off-topic but in relation to modern technology gaining the upper hand.. a few years back there was a marvellous play about a man employed by the railway to change the time of the rail stations in the 19th century, which were related to 'local' times and often half an hour behind the London time . Time was calculated from sun dials. So he travelled from the south to the north on horseback meeting a lot of local opposition to this 'playing' around with time, now of course none of us question greenwich mean time..but which is better local time or standard?
