Using a small scale 1:25000 map isn't much help in finding a spot a metre square , particularly if it is covered by turf/heather etc .
Couldn't you take the gps back to the seller ,they should last more than one trip. Mine is almost old enough to be on TMA and still works fine despite numerous soakings bashings etc .
