The hole in the capstone has been carefully and beautifully worked. At the moment we suspect it has the properties of a "squircle". or superellipse and the physics of such an aperture, in three dimensions, are under study to discern if the aperture has any of the optical properties associated with such figures. Quite apart from this, however, the capstone aperture was, and still can be, used to directly observe the sun. The Solar Corona can be observed. This is only one of the astonishing things we have found at Trethevy, and I would be glad to answer any questions about the results so far of a ten year study.
