With regards to bears and zoos, at least Mercedes the polar bear, from Edinburgh zoo, seems to be having a ball in her new enclosure in the highlands. Especially in the snow over the winter, well, after she'd got over the shock.
Aren't pigs and hedgehogs both substitutes for bear? Celtic bear noa names include water pig. Hedgehog used to be a sacred delicacy for romany travellers, cooked though, not raw. Not so much with the pavee.
