Some prefer "First Nations" now too, since DNA shows other ethnic groups migrated there too, but didn't form groups large enough to be called nations, plus they aren't trying to say later nations don't belong. A lot of christian native americans don't mind the indian tag either, as they say, rightly or wrongly, that it comes from being named "in Dios" a people with god, by Europeans when they arrived.
