Well yes really, else the process becomes one in which he selects, creatively - which isn't scientifically rigorous. Cherrypicking points to make a ley line is another unscientific exercise. And what about a three eyed face on a sarsen? Is it valid to ignore one of the eyes because without it the remainder looks convincing?
