i was at the big green gathering in cheddar 2002 and a friend insisted we go to avebury on the way back to Brighton. I was not in any position to argue- i wasnt driving. We told some people we were heading there on the way home and they all said "cool". Im not sure how it happened but on arrival i felt immersed in a sense of unparalleled wonder- swept in an ether of timeless awe- or something like that. I imagined Avebury originally having an enourmous roof made of wood and all we saw was the remaining non perishable supports. Anyway- Needless to say i have bored many people to tears ever since with my obsessional rambling regarding neolithic and bronze age remains-
