Seem to remember John North proposing a procession up the Stonehenge Avenue would be able to keep the setting sun framed between the lintel of the central trilithon and the lintels of the outer ring for minutes.
In other words, as you step slowly up the hill, your viewpoint rises, causing the setting sun to stand still in the sky, or on the horizon, etc. Loie and I did something similar years ago while out bird watching, although not at Stonehenge! We were in a field that ran down a long eastward facing hill. As the sun set on the top of the hill, we walked up a bit, making the sun "rise." Watched it set, then walked up a bit and made it rise again. Little things amuse little minds, they do say, and I was fascinated.
Never thought to "process" up the hill and trap the sun on the horizon, but it would have been easy enough to do.
