Just a quick tip for if you ever pop into Marlborough when out and about near avebury.

If you follow the signs to the car park behind all the shops, rather than parking along the main street - you'll find the River Kennet flowing along peacefully next to the car park, lined with trees.
I took my shoes and socks off and stuck them in the water. And then I fed some ducks with my sandwich. And then I watched the ripples. It was very soothing. and the perfect antidote to all those ludicrous clothes shops and £50 cushions in Laura Ashley. Marlborough's a bit weird isn't it.

Great tip. I usually drive straight through. Calne is another place I never consider stopping at.
