I thought it was all about the landscape and setting though RG? Isn't the fact that the stones have only recently been concreted into position slightly irrelevant? The landscape at Avebury is a prime example of a place where the sacred landscape can be read, even if you ignore the stones (and the juxtaposition with the village before or after Keillor)...
