That's a fair point, although if, and I do mean if, practices were similar to those of modern indigenous peoples, huts are rebuilt every few years anyway. A Kogi Indian for example takes about 15 days to make a house and does so once every five or six years.
Simple fact is, I haven't a clue. I just don't think they represent a single function.
