Firstly thanks to those of you who have expressed support, its much appreciated. As to the CCTV issue

This is currently being examined, as some of you are aware there is no electricity at the site (last estimate for installation was around 30K some years ago) which severly limits what is available. However, I did have an update from a security specialist firm who are carrying out trials on a new battery operated system for Thames Valley Police, so far the outlook is favourable. Once all the glitches are sorted out a proposal will be put together that will include motion detected lights and camera's on both the lay-by and entrance/warden's building. Once the full cost is known it may well be that an application towards funding may have to be made to both the local authority and EH.

The local Police have been much more pro-active of late, so any nocturnal visitors should not be surprised if asked to stop and account if parked up after dark. The Police are informed of any expected volunteers or private bookings and have my personal contact numbers to check at any time if there is any doubt as to who should be there or not. A bit draconian and not something I am happy about but in circumstances we do not have a lot of choice.

I would urge anyone with any information as to who may be responsible, no matter how insignificant to contact me in complete confidence or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, alternatively Sgt Rosemary Dilsaver on 0845 8 505 505 - you can always ask to leave a message on her voicemail.

The Rollright Trust is in the process of drafting a new volunteer policy. Due to the prolonged loss of a building the volunteer numbers have dropped. Anyone interested in volunteering can also contact me or the site manager through the website. All would be volunteers will be fully CRB checked and receive training. Of course we cannot re-commence volunteering until the building is repaired and complies with H&S regs. We are hoping (fingers and everything else crossed) that the planning permission for changes to the exterior comes through at about the same time as the CCTV trials finish so that we don't spend out more money on making the building habitable to have it attacked once again...
