I seem to be coming up with all sorts of misinformation lately - but isn't it like the sun's path is a C shape .. in the summer it's a long day and goes from NE-via S to NW.. at the equinox it's equal day and night so it goes from E via S to W .. and in the short days of winter it goes from SE via S to SW.
So the rising and settings are getting closer to N in the summer, and closer to S in the winter.
cos we're not on the equator it might not get up to NE and NW but it'd be heading in that general direction??
