In Rude Stone Monuments Fergusson says that the 'excavating' team were disappointed not to find eny remains after digging a tunnel to the centre from two sides at ground level. When the planks that held up the tunnels were removed the tunnels collapsed and a cist was discovered. It reads as if the cist fell into the tunnel.
