While trying (unsuccessfully) to find out what the average size of a bluestone lintel is (re: Ike's thread at http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/forum/?thread=38114 ) I stumbled on the following -

"They (the lintels of Stonehenge) might look timeless... In fact, most of the sarsens have been moved this century. Of the nine high lintels apparently still as placed by the original builders, strictly only two got there by neolithic technology. The three together on the north-east side were removed and stacked on the ground by the Office of Works in 1920, so that supporting megaliths could be straightened and set in cement. To the east, lintel 122 fell and broke in two in 1900, and was repaired and replaced in 1958. Lintel 107 was taken down in 1919, and put back after its megaliths were made safe. Lintel 158, on the ground since the trilithon of which it was part fell in 1797, was winched back into place 1958. Lintel 154 was moved briefly in 1964 when trilithon 53/54 was concreted. Only 152, on the north-east trilithon 51/52, and 105 in the sarsen circle can claim to have remained in place for over 4000 years."*

Still sounds pretty good though ;-)
