One of the greatest mysteries is where did all the Dublin vikings go? DNA research has given plenty of viking blood in the Shetlands and Orkneys but none in Wales or Ireland, not *even* in Dublin. . Another of the curious DNA results show plenty of confusing signs of Saxon origin indistinguishable with that of the Danelaw (understandable since both came from neighbouring areas of northern germany) BUT equal proportion of native British (non-Germanic) in Scotland/Wales OR Southern England. Which shows that not all areas in one country are uniformly peopled or influenced.

I would be interested to know to what extent viking culture penetrated the Irish and Celtic native one if the population lived segregated as DNA research shows.
