Place where water disappears underground in a limestone region. It generally implies water loss in a closed depression or blind valley.

I heard a hydrologist on the radio saying that Swallowheads are springs with water unfit for people.
The Silbury Swallowhead is reputedly good for curing eye diseases.
The Spring next to Silbury is also named as Swallowhead on early maps.
