Sam, could you mention it to the farmer first then ask him if he'd involve the local paper to do an article on, 'Desecration of ancient Site' or somesuch with a paragraph on how people visiting ancient places <b>should</b> behave, chances are it's someone local so the hope is they'd read it and not do it again.
I always take a couple of carrier bags when I visit any site to remove all large and non-biodegradable stuff. I've only been to Arbor Low once but found photographs wedged in the natural fissures of some of the stones during my visit.
