I went to Stonehenge today and stopped at a newsagents cum general store on the Plain. There was the usual wall of glossy mags, and it was very noticeable that not only were none of the archaeo mags for sale (nothing unusual in that), but there were no history mags not even the family ones that are popular, and no heritage mags other than Wiltshire Life if that counts. There was not even rambling or wildlife mags.
There was however a choice of 4X4 mags, two with landrover in the title, one something like 4x4 choice, and the other I forget but it was offroading.
Even recognising a lot of military live in the nearby villages I wonder (orwell style) what this said about our culture ?
