I'm not really a posh git but me and Mrs Wild Wooder also stayed at the Standing Stones Hotel a few weeks ago. Managed to wake up for the solstice and had to drive round to the Stones of Stenness to catch the sunrise moment- only took about three minutes. Lovely views across the loch for the hotel and from the breakfast room you can see across to the Ring of Brodgar. Very comfy, 'taint cheap but worth it.
Anyone going up there, don't miss Peatfire Tales. Adverts in the hotels and pubs.
