On July 2nd & 3rd, an event I'm organising officially affiliated with the Time Team Big Roman Dig just happens to pass loads of prehistoric monuments.
The principal purpose of the event will be to document the Roman Road running from the W of the Rowen Youth Hostel to its departure from the uplands, nr the Incised Stones http://snipurl.com/RomanRoadArrowStone further west.
This is north east Snowdonia, and an amazing area visually and archaeologically. Yes, the focus is Roman, but it will be impossible not to include the prehistory!
Hope to include a walk up to the lowest Peak of the Carneddau (Carnedd y Ddelw http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/6210) to survey the route of the Roman Road - ascending 500 metres over 3KM. Should the weather be crap (possible at the moment!) possibly some museum visits, and a look at Segontium & Kanovium Roman Forts.
Anyone wanting to responsibly join in, please go to
http://www.smartgroups.com/group/group.cfm?GID=3198738
and seek to join the group, or mail me [email protected] by 11am Friday. If you're not sure, I'll mail you my mobile number in the meantime for contact.
Below is a FAQ sort of thing,
cheers
Tim
