I'm not sure how old the name is, unfortunately. The definition I found does describe the site quite well (even better if you think of it as "Field with a low hill"), but of course it would only be relevant if the site was named by people who used varients of those languages. Still, it seems too precise to be an absolute coincidence to me.
The link below has some information on possible origins of the name - which is correctly written as a single word Maeshowe, rather than the two word variant which is extremely common.
