Well I like the original word, the spoken poem reads much better with churchward then churchyard...


Well, you might be right moss. But is there such a word as 'churchward' (meaning towards the church?). Dunno, as you say there is the word 'church-ward' meaning a custodian of a church. The poem certainly is a bit of mystery (on several levels) and needs someone with the right background to sort it out.
