Why does the ash tree make such a good pendulum:-

Because... it was probably the first sacred tree, think of the Ygrasdil Tree upon which Odin was hung, he hung for 9 days and the number of leaves on each twig is 9; 4 on either side and one on the top. Which leads to its other point of reference, Burl in poetical mood, also suggests that the bud in spring, one large bud at the end with two smaller buds further down, also has sexual significance. Bet know one knew that!!

Leaf counting; its true about the leaves but some trees do have 11, or even 13....
