I'd bet a plate of custard that there's at least one plague stone out there that is a reused cup mark. They do turn up in bridges and walls. But it probably couldn't be proved, even if such a thing existed.

I'm assuming this stone at Crakehall either has a cup-type hollow for vinegar, or was known about as some kind of marker/boundary thing, like the one at Clulow (Bullstones), otherwise it wouldn't have been called a plague stone?
