Which ties in nicely with part of the book I'm reading right now: Boats and Boatmen by TC Lethbridge.
He mentions the differences between people living in a fishing village and those living in a farming village just a few miles away. The point he makes is that the two are inter-dependent in a way, yet two totally different types of people that dont understand the other's way of life; their values, priorities, convictions or superstitions are all foreign.
Perhaps the differences go back further than even he thought ...

Of course, a bunch of pissed-up Neolithic farmers could have ventured down to the cove one night for a rumble and got their heads stoved in. The people of the cove, who had no need for the axes the intruders were armed with, simply threw them in the midden pit :-)
