Pete, you said the name for it in the Red Lion map was The Great Bank. But then you mentioned Girt Bank.
I assumed that Girt meant Great, but I looked it up
Girt means to gird or to secure with a girth, and it's a variant form of gird which means to surround, or to encircle with a belt or band.
Interesting, isn't it?
Input from etymologists would be welcome at this point..
