I noticed on the OS map that there were a couple of tiny plots of land that weren't part of the NT land - so, could be right that the actual horse is one of these.
Overall, I think the Trust does a pretty decent job with ancient sites (and certainly a better job than English Heritage!), but on the Uffington issue I would also be of the opinion that ancient sites shouldn't be used for advertising.
