I wonder if the lack of reaction is connected with the modern horses (those cut 1780-1868) not being considered in the same 'ancient heritage' league as Uffington and that the abuse of that monument was authorised by the NT where the other acts were not.
If it had been a statue of Churchill the establishment would have hunted down and thrown the book at them...
