What about self dictated religion? which is where I'm coming from. Many people are spiritual and from a very early age have a need to belong. The latter is a simple concept and is stronger particularly in the young. The former is more complex and needs a significant amount of time to form into a tangeable belief.

Meanwhile, charismatic leaders and elders will be telling all who listen about their belief's. Surely the need to belong, coupled with a poorly formed concept of ones beliefs means you are likely to self dictate your religion? I see this happening today and as far as I can see the only thing that causes people to stop and think is a negative event.
