I was severely pissed off when I saw it for the first time.

The stone is definately ancient and has local significance. I was told as a child that if you ran around it fifty times that you would hear the Devils voice, hence we always called it " The Devil stone"

There is also a local legend associated with the stone, years ago (1600's) a man was sentenced to death by starvation (for a double murder) by being inclosed in an iron cage over the said stone.
