Can't claim it myself.... although I kicking myself after I read a couple of dimissive reports, one reference which dismissed them as natural formations and another that said it had gone without trace. I think there a lesson to learn here somewhere (never trust the experts!)
The directions given by Borlase were slightly out, so this may acount for some confusion . I understand that the Men Gurta was re-erected in 1956 after lying broken since 1945 was it moved in the process?
No the honour of the re-discovery goes to a local stone buff called Howard Balmer. he has an excellent article in the summer issue of "Meyn Mamvro" a Cornish pamplet on Stones and Earth Mysteries. Howard also includes an excellent write up on the St. Eval and St. Breock areas.
You can order it online at http://www.cornwt.demon.co.uk/contact.htm
