A very good quality hotel, although perhaps not for those on a limited budget. Fantastic views over the bay to Kisimul's Castle and to Vatersay.
All meals that I had were excellent - had Razorfish as a starter - very unusual! No culinary experience in the Hebrides would be complete without fresh, golfball sized Scallops... delicious. Oh, yes ... nearly forgot....try some cockles ... if you arrived by plane (as I did) you are eating the runway.
The owners are very much part of the Island community and are a good source of information. Although, as with the rest of the Islanders, not very hot on things archaeological.
Look upon the steep climb up the steps at the front of the hotel as a good precursor of things to come for Barra's moorland megalith hunters. |
