Cairnholy 2 is practically on the doorstep of this great place. If you don't want to wander too far from the stones, you can request evening dinner (home cooked and eaten in the dining room with Steve and Linda, the owners) and spend the as much as time as possible at the 2 sites.
We watched the sunset over Wigtown Bay from Cairnholy 1, went in for dinner and then came back out and sat at Cairnholy 2, star-gazing and pondering upon the meaning of life. Perfect!
Yes, the farm buildings intrude upon Cairnholy 2 but I cannot think of a better place to want to stay when visiting this part of Scotland. |
