Garsington Church stands on a raised hilltop site, supported by an ancient retaining wall. A footpath runs below this wall, leading to a nearby paved pathway constructed from old stones, some of which are particularly large. In the fields below, concealed within a hedgerow beside a gateway, lies a large stone measuring at least 2 metres in width and nearly 1 metre in height—very similar to the one mentioned here.
