The area atop this rock formation is the dun, difficult to make out in this picture but the darkened area to the left (ESE facing) at top is built up rock

Note the small eyelet about half way up on the left hand side of this stone this is the NW facing side, does anyone have any explainations, wear and tear or design?
For reference if looking to find this stone, it’s known locally as Achaban, name of the neighbouring guesthouse.
