Close by the Tomb this site of a hut has been excavated. Charlie and his wife may well have lived here. The pit is for cooking. It was probably filled with water and heated by placing very hot rocks from a fire into the pit in order to boil food placed in the water.

Some of the remarkable finds from the burried village. These are buttons and needles. They are on display at the site.

This is Charlie. He is 5,000 years old and was found in the Tomb of the Eagles. If you visit you can hold him, his wife, his tools and belongings. Fantastic.

My favourite stone in the Avenue approaching Avebury. In the right light it looks very much like a skull!
