What a view!
The inner circle
The odd “entrance” which sits in the same field as Middle Barrow. There is one to the east, one to the west and a mound to the NE which seems to sit behind the standing stone
In the same field as Middle Barrow are 2 lots of strange “gate post” or entrance ways. This one looks more like a gateway and fallen down wall but the other one behind MB looks like some kind of entrance to a tomb.
You can make the stone look much bigger than it is with a good camera angle! The mound in the background looks pretty suspicious to me...
Technically a photo of a lamb, but he is standing on the burial chamber, so it kinda counts...
Sacred Lambs!!
See how the two large “recumbent” style stones align with each other perfectly. They seems to face the same direction as the entrance to Grimspound
The trouble maker...
Druid in a cloak? The nose, eyebrows, hood and shoulder are pretty clear. This is the last stone on West Kennet Avenue before you reach the fence and I have seen this before but didn’t notice the “druid” until his cloak was white!
Bloomin’ cows! Actually, I quite like this one with the cow in it!
Actually managed to shoo the cows away and get a quick photo in!
Big piles of stones in a rough circle containing other rough circles of smaller stones (cairns?) with Esslie the Greater in the background.
They might not look like much, but they are far outweighing some of the other things the area has to offer, so well worth the trip :)
If your’e not quite sure where it is, youre losing light fast, and the snow is waist deep in the field, Old Keig can be quite a trek...
Mostly sharply pointed “masculine” stones.
Quite tricky to find without a few “spotters” in the car looking for any stone that could be part of a stone circle, but well worth it once you get there!
Totally beautiful (remains of a) circle in a perfect location x
Lovely x
