Very close by there used to be a standing stone called The Row Riddy stone now long gone.
Also a few barrows have vanished over the years due to the sand quarrying industry I believe.

Just watched a DVD called Along The Ridgeway and one of the presenters gets a loud noise out of the Blowing stone.
He blows through the very small hole on the top of the stone, after a child shouts instructions from the window of one of the cottages.
Whiteleaf Cross gets a mention in the Otway and Barrett song “Louise on a horse”.
Not suprising as they come from Aylesbury.
