Nearly stepped on this delightful creature on the way up and met 2 of it’s siblings minutes later. Has anyone else had encounters with snakes in their wanderings?

Wow hes gorgeous! ive seen a couple of Grass Snakes and Slow worms but never an Adder you were very lucky to find him!
If any body language says 'Leave me alone' it's this. Lovely image.
Yup! Snakes A R Cane! I slid down into a rather enclosed rock shelter just up the hill from Stronach Wood Rock Art carvings on the Isle of Arran last year. I very nearly slid onto an Adder basking on a tussock of grass. It was a biggie - at least three and half, probably four feet long. I very nearly translevitated. I posted the pic here

I've seen them many a time on my travels in Scotland but they are still a thrill to come across.
Great shot !
I've come across several on Dartmoor. One almost jumped as much as I startled it sunbathing by a small rock - I managed to get a photo before it disappeared though.
