Bit of a tradition, that is, erecting upright slate and towers of rock just below Castle Crag summit. Don't quite know how it started. Some have been quite spectacular over the years.

Meant to say, this image is not mine though posted with permission from my friend MC. I stayed at the bottom of the slate mound and took in the view.
