You are doing Drewland proud. Fantastic work!
Doing Drewland proud is SUCH a tall order. You live in a land of magic! :-D (thanks ;-) )
The hills, in between the stones in your pic are Balnagowan to the left (home to the massive Blue Cairn and several others) and Scar Hill to the right, it's south western flank has a cairn.
Both these painting are very lovely Nicki, I should love to own this one. Just back from my last Fell walk before returning south tomorrow, as I watched water cascading over rocks I had the thought that ancient people may have built stone circles to remind them of where they came from.
Ahh, beautiful, absolutely beautiful. You have great talent indeed.
That is one lovely painting. I want to see more.
Keep it up,
TE.
Looked up the Blue Cairn Drew - that looks really interesting. I'm already trying to work out when I could get back here and I'll have to make sure I visit there next time :-)
Thanks for all the nice comments :-)
Love these paintings of ancient sites. For me there is so much more to them than a photo in itself can provide... your own perception of what is, after all, a grouping of stones must rely heavilly upon how you relate to the site and its place in the landscape. What do they signify, what went on here etc. An artisitic rendering represents this better, I think.
Incidentally just got back from one of my Scotland fortnight walkarounds - or 'stagger-arounds' in the wind we've had up there - this morning... I'll post a few pictures of the Blue Cairn etc later. Special place, I have to say.
Oh Cheers Gladman - I'll watch out for them! :-)
So that was you wandering about up there Gladman. My spies reported seeing somebody.
Doubt if they saw me. I was wearing a great big ginger CU Jimmy wig, kilt, swigging from a bottle of Buckfast and playing the bagpipes (very badly) in between. Would have fitted in a treat.
Crikey Gladman I hope that isn't your opinion of every Scot. I didn't realise we were viewed that badly :-(
Oh no. I doff my bowler hat and twirl my umbrella to all my northern friends. Or at least I'll get Jeeves to when he's finished his chores.
Didn't realise you were in the Avengers Mr G.
