Posting up a couple of Brodgar I painted in the field in Feb ‘11 – I resisted posting them before as they are not 100% accurate (the working conditions were a bit distracting, if exhillerating!) but I feel they capture a ‘vibe of place’ that perhaps a photo can’t always, and therefore still useful to post I hope :-)...

That's lovely, your pics are far more than "useful" Nicki.
Ahh that's kind - but I did 'squeeze' the stones about a bit, not quite right spacing.... but it was BLOOMIN' cold I almost cried when I tried to move! Hee hee ;-)
Superb painting Nicki, and yes you've captured the cold 'feel'.
Lovely stuff tho that might have been considered warm by Wideford's standards :-)
I've been admiring this pic... I love it on your site where it shows the painting in progress and the position the painting was created from! www3.clikpic.com/nickimacrae/photo_7813315.html

Hee hee I saw just sat on a cushion thing and it was soooo cold! I got frozen into position and had to get my husband to physically *lift me up* to standing when I was done (good job I wasn't on my own, otherwise Brodgar might have gained an ice mummy and easel art installation by accident). But the light was fab and welll worth it :-D There are more pic's on the blog... nickipaints.blogspot.com/2011/03/orkney-sketchbook-part-2.html I want to do the trip all over again! :-D
