It's supposed to be in the Royal Museum of Scotland .It is not on display which may mean it is in a shed in some industrial estate in the central belt . There is another marked rock on the golf course , under turf .

Such a small stone should be on display, it wouldn't take up much room. They better not have mislaid the thing. Nice atmospheric lighting, little velvet cushion for it to sit on.. it'd look the business.
I was up in Edinburgh at the NMS yesterday. The stone wasn't on display anywhere I saw in the "early people" section on the lower floor. Another portable was found very close by the Braid Hills Golf Course stone(s) near Corbie's Crag at Blackford Hill (funnily enough yesterday we finished our Edinburgh trip with a walk through the Hermitage of Braid).

A cup and ring marked block of red sandstone, 12 1/2" x 7 3/4" x 4 1/8" (318 by 197 by 105mm), was found in 1926 at the foot of the scree, a short distance S of Corbies' Craig and on the E side of the path leading up Blackford Hill. One face is sculptured with two cup marks, surrounded by one ring, with radial grooves, while the other bears a cup surrounded by three rings. This stone, which is broken across the middle but rejoined, was donated to the NMAS by the finder, G Miller, in 1926.

I didn't see this in the NMS either. Tiompan's probably right. They'll be in a warehouse somewhere more than likely. Though I'm not sure what Huntly House in the Canongate keeps on show...
