Superb and evocative series of photos tsc. A real pleasure to see them - this place was visited by Julian Cope for the tv programme he made 11 or so years ago. It didn't register at the first viewing but I watched again recently and was struck by this place ... without getting into a discussion about 'sacred' this hill seems to fit the bill. High on list for a visit to the area and some of the stone circles surrounding it.
Thanks June, it's a wonderful area (as Drew can tell you). I reckon the site should be on TMA as "hillfort" or "settlement" really, as there are archaeological remains there regardless of its sacredness or otherwise.
Blundered through here a couple of years back, but the sheer volume of archaeology - around Dunnideer, and Aberdeenshire in general - is really overwhelming. Guess it takes a local for proper insight....... Know anyone?
That area is circled by hills Tyrebagger, Bennachie Range, Correens, The Tap Of Noth, Battle Hill (Huntly), Frendraught, Culsalmond, Cross Of Jackson, Barra back to Tyrebagger. It is almost like a little country all on its own, except the Rivers Don, Dee, Ythan, Ugie and Deveron join it all together. Each of these rivers have loads of sites connected to him. Cheers Gladdie, next time your up this way.

Agreed, SC hillfort would be better! June, I can arrange the weather for you as well :-)
