
From the Rev’s ‘Reliquiae Diluvianae’ (1823). You can see the skeleton next to its mammothy companion. Curiously the drawing shows a skull, yet it wasn’t in the Oxford museum??
I was inspired to find this after watching the superb ‘History of Ancient Britain’ on the BBC with the intrepid Neil Oliver, who abseiled down to the cave.
