This L-shaped enclosure is listed as Iron Age defensive, but no excavation has been carried out and the site is completely open to the west and north - the obvious directions to expect an attack from. There is a great gateway and a formal track and these can be identified on the left of the bank, in this picture. Properly this great monument should be considered alongside Mayburgh Henge and other local sites, just a few miles away.
